Hello
I'm Jolan Bogdan, a practicing artist, designer, business owner, and academic. I hold a BFA in Textiles from Moore College of Art & Design, and a PhD in Visual Cultures from Goldsmiths, University of London. I am the owner of Penelope's Den Co., an Adjunct Professor at Tyler School of Art and Architecture, and the author of several academic texts. I work out of my studio in South Philadelphia.
background & mission
I create fine jewelry and gifts which celebrate geological and ecological diversity. Using mixed natural gemstones, geodes and metals, my work highlights the vast richness of textures and natural color variations in the world around us. The craftsmanship required for fine wire work, along with gemstones patterns, stems from my background in textile design. Through paying the highest attention to detail, quality, and use of natural themes, I in turn hope to inspire viewers to take good care of the source of these materials: our Earth.
